Lodgify guide
An alternative to the Lodgify website builder
Where the drag-and-drop stops, what replacing it involves, and why you should keep Lodgify anyway.
Lodgify built the category, and it shows
Of all the platforms in this market, Lodgify is the one that took websites seriously first. The builder is genuinely good at what it does: a branded, mobile-friendly direct booking site with no coding required11, live in days rather than months.
That is a real achievement and it is why so many operators start there. It is also why so many outgrow it — a tool designed to get everyone online quickly cannot simultaneously be a tool that makes any individual operator distinctive.
The three limits
Property page structure is the first. The template decides hierarchy, gallery behaviour and where copy sits, and those decisions determine the rate a property can credibly command.
Portfolio search is the second, and it bites from about ten properties. Guests narrow by sleeps, dogs, hot tub, distance. A builder that cannot combine those quickly loses them.
Content is the third and the most expensive in the long run. There is nowhere structural for location pages and guides, which is why so many Lodgify sites rank for the business name and nothing else.
What replacing it looks like
You keep Lodgify. Channels, calendars, rates and payments carry on exactly as they are, and we build the front end around the booking engine or against the REST API11.
Worth checking your plan while you are at it: the Starter tier carries a 1.9% booking fee on direct bookings, which Professional and Ultimate remove11. If you are about to push volume through the direct channel, that upgrade usually pays for itself.
- Nothing operational changes — same dashboard, same channels
- Booking engine embedded, or a full build on the REST API
- Existing URLs mapped and redirected, not abandoned
- Typically eight to twelve weeks for a collection
Questions people actually ask
Straight answers.
Can I keep Lodgify and change my website?
Yes, and it is the usual project. Lodgify keeps running the operation; only the guest-facing layer changes.
Either route works — embedding the booking engine, or building against the REST API11.
Is the Lodgify builder bad?
No. It is a good product with a defined ceiling, and most operators hit that ceiling somewhere between five and fifteen properties.
The tell is usually organic traffic: if you rank for your own name and nothing else, the builder is why.
Does moving cost me the 1.9% booking fee saving?
The fee is a plan feature, not a website one. Professional and Ultimate remove it regardless of what your site is built on11.
Worth reviewing your plan and your site at the same time, because the decisions interact.
