A self-catering property of the kind managed in Hospitable

Hospitable website design for hosts whose automation outclasses their website.

Hospitable is the best-automated platform most hosts will ever run, and its community knows it. The direct booking site is the part nobody raves about. That is the part we fix.

The situation

Brilliant operations. A website doing the bare minimum.

Hospitable Direct gets you a branded booking site on your own domain or a Hospitable subdomain, with secure payments, guest screening and damage protection depending on tier12. There is also a booking widget that lets you add Hospitable to an existing site rather than building a standalone one12.

That widget is the opening. It means you can keep every bit of the automation you chose Hospitable for — the messaging, the locks, the cleaning schedules — and put it behind a site that actually looks like a business rather than a listing. Worth noting the economics: Direct Basic charges 1% commission, and Direct Premium 3% host plus 4% guest, in exchange for tax handling, chargeback protection and damage cover12.

1%

Commission on Hospitable's Direct Basic tier, where you handle tax, chargebacks and screening yourself.

Direct Premium: 3% host fee plus a 4% guest fee, bundling tax, fraud screening and damage protection.

Integration

How we connect to Hospitable.

01Not what we build

Hospitable Direct site

The native booking site

Live in minutes, on your own domain or a Hospitable subdomain12. Genuinely capable for a small portfolio. Constrained the moment brand or organic traffic matters.

02Most common

Booking widget

Hospitable inside a site we design

Hospitable's widget lets you add booking to an existing site12. We design that site properly and hand over only the transactional steps. The most common Hospitable project we take on.

03Portfolios

Custom build

Full control of the journey

For operators who need portfolio search, filtering, editorial content and a checkout that feels like part of the site. Built around the widget and Hospitable's integrations rather than fighting them.

What we do differently

Nine things a custom Hospitable build gets right.

01

Availability at first paint

The calendar is the product. It belongs on the property page immediately, not three clicks in or hidden behind a tab.

02

Honest total pricing, early

Cleaning, pets, extras and deposits shown before the final step. Surprise costs at checkout are the biggest single cause of abandonment.

03

Rules made visible

Changeover days, seasonal minimums and short-break windows shown in the availability display, so nobody selects dates they cannot have.

04

Property pages built for search

One page per property, properly structured, with location, sleeps, features and schema markup. These are the pages that rank.

05

Photography given room

Full-width, fast-loading, art-directed. If the interiors are why people book, stop showing them at 600 pixels wide.

06

Mobile-first booking

61% of online accommodation bookings now happen on mobile2. The date picker is designed for a thumb first.

07

Speed as a design constraint

A tenth of a second of mobile speed is worth around 10% on travel booking rates5. Load time is a design decision.

08

Content that earns traffic

Location and guide pages answering what guests actually search, linked properly into the property pages.

09

Migration without rank loss

Full URL map, one-hop 301s, metadata carried across and daily Search Console monitoring for the first fortnight.

Questions people actually ask

Straight answers about Hospitable and direct bookings.

Can I use Hospitable Direct with my own custom website?

Yes. Hospitable provides a booking widget specifically so you can add booking to an existing site rather than using the standalone one12.

That is exactly how we build. You keep every part of the automation, and the site around the widget is designed, structured and written properly.

Is Hospitable Direct actually commission-free?

No, and Hospitable is upfront about it. Direct Basic takes 1%; Direct Premium takes 3% from the host plus 4% from the guest, in return for tax calculation, chargeback protection, fraud screening and damage cover12.

Against 14–16% to Airbnb3 that is still a dramatic saving, and the Premium bundle removes real operational risk. Just model the number you will actually pay rather than the headline.

What does Hospitable's own booking site not do well?

The same three things every native builder struggles with: property page structure, search across a portfolio, and hosting content that earns organic traffic.

It is a booking site, and it is competent at being one. It is not a website in the sense of somewhere a guest reads about the area, finds the walk from the door, and decides this is the place. That gap is what a direct channel is actually built on.

Will I lose my automations if I change website?

No. Messaging, calendar sync, smart locks and cleaning schedules all live in Hospitable and are entirely unaffected by what the website looks like.

The website is a presentation layer. We have never touched a client's automation stack in the course of a rebuild, and we would not want to.

Does the guest stay on my domain when they book?

With Hospitable Direct on a custom domain, effectively yes. With the widget embedded in a site we build, the guest stays on your pages throughout the selection steps.

Where a handover is unavoidable we design for it explicitly — consistent styling, no jarring change of typeface or colour — rather than pretending it is not happening.

Is Hospitable right for a portfolio of twenty-plus properties?

It can be, though at that size the search experience is doing more work than the automation. Be honest about which problem is actually costing you bookings.

If the answer is search, filtering and property presentation, the website is the investment. If it is operations, the platform already has you covered.

To be clear

We are not Hospitable, and we are not trying to replace it.

Hospitable is automation and property management software, and the community's enthusiasm for it is well earned. We are not an alternative to it. We build the website that its booking widget sits inside, so the front end finally matches the back end.
