A self-catering property of the kind managed in OwnerRez

OwnerRez website design without the hosted template.

OwnerRez gives you hosted sites, a WordPress plugin, widgets for everything and an API on top. Plenty of ways in — and one very good reason to bring your own design.

The situation

Every integration route you could want, and a template you will outgrow.

OwnerRez offers hosted websites with customisable templates, integrated websites that connect through its API, a WordPress plugin, and embeddable widgets for inquiry forms, booking, availability, rates and reviews14. Custom domains are supported throughout.

That widget set is unusually complete, and it is what makes OwnerRez such a comfortable platform to design around. You are never forced into the hosted template; you can take exactly the components you need and place them in a site built to sell the properties rather than to accommodate a booking form.

Integration

How we connect to OwnerRez.

01Not what we build

Hosted website

The native template

Customisable templates with built-in booking and multi-property support14. Perfectly serviceable, and unmistakably a template.

02Most common

Widgets in a site we design

Pick the components

Booking, availability, rates and review widgets placed into pages we design and control14. The most common OwnerRez build we take on.

03Portfolios

Integrated site on the API

Fully bespoke

OwnerRez supports external sites connecting through its API14. Custom search, static-fast property pages and a checkout that stays where it belongs.

Questions people actually ask

Straight answers about OwnerRez and direct bookings.

Can I connect my own website to OwnerRez?

Yes. OwnerRez explicitly supports integrated websites that connect through its API, as well as widgets you can drop into any site14.

Either route leaves your channel connections, calendars and guest workflow entirely untouched. The only thing that changes is what the guest sees.

Should I use the OwnerRez WordPress plugin?

It works well and is genuinely well documented14. Our usual reservation is speed rather than function — WordPress carries weight that a booking site does not need.

If you have editorial reasons for WordPress, the plugin is a good route. If you do not, a static front end using the same widgets will load considerably faster on a phone.

What is wrong with the hosted OwnerRez website?

Nothing, for a small portfolio getting started. It becomes limiting when the property page structure, portfolio search or editorial content start deciding whether you win the booking.

The pattern is the same across every platform in this category: the native site is built to be adequate for everyone, which means it is optimised for nobody in particular.

Is OwnerRez a sensible choice for a UK operator?

It is more established in North America, but the widget and API architecture is geography-agnostic and it has a growing UK base.

The practical question is channel coverage rather than website capability. If OwnerRez connects to the channels you actually sell through, the website side is straightforward.

To be clear

We are not OwnerRez, and we are not trying to replace it.

OwnerRez is property management and booking software with an unusually generous set of integration options. We do not compete with it. We use those widgets and that API to build the website its hosted templates were never going to be.
