Guesty guide

An alternative to Guesty Websites

Where the native builder runs out of road, what replacing it involves, and what you keep. Which is almost everything.

01

What Guesty Websites is good at

Worth saying plainly: it is a competent product. It gets a portfolio online quickly, it is included, it stays in sync with the central calendar, and for an operator who needs a functioning direct channel next month it is the right answer.

The problem is not that it is bad. It is that it is built to be adequate for every Guesty customer, which means it is optimised for none of them in particular. That is fine until your properties are the brand.

02

The three places it runs out

Property page structure comes first. The template decides the hierarchy, the gallery behaviour and where the copy sits, and those are precisely the decisions that determine whether a property sells at its true rate.

Search and filtering comes second, and it bites hardest past ten properties. Guests narrow by sleeps, dogs, hot tub, distance from a beach or a station. A template that cannot combine those quickly sends people back to the OTA.

Content comes third and matters most in the long run. There is nowhere sensible to put area guides, walking routes, restaurant recommendations or the seasonal writing that actually earns organic traffic. Seventy per cent of operators have a direct booking site; sixty-two per cent take under a quarter of bookings through it2. This is a large part of why.

03

What replacing it looks like

You keep Guesty entirely. Channels, calendars, rates, automation, payments and reporting all stay exactly where they are. What changes is the layer the guest sees, built either around the embeddable Booking Engine or against the Booking Engine API.

Timeline is typically eight to twelve weeks for a portfolio build. The migration is planned as its own workstream, with a full URL map and one-hop redirects, so whatever organic footprint the Guesty site has earned comes with you.

  • Nothing changes operationally — same dashboard, same workflow
  • Availability keeps syncing throughout the build
  • Existing Guesty Websites URLs mapped and redirected, not abandoned

Questions people actually ask

Straight answers.

Can I keep Guesty and use a different website?

Yes, and it is what we would normally recommend. Guesty carries on running the operation; only the front end changes.

Your OTA connections, calendars and automations are untouched. Guests simply arrive somewhere better.

Will I lose rankings moving off Guesty Websites?

Not if the migration is planned. Full URL map, one-hop 301s and metadata carried across, with Search Console monitored daily for a fortnight.

Most Guesty Websites installations have modest organic footprints, which makes this one of the lower-risk migrations we do.

How much of the work is design and how much is integration?

Roughly half and half on a portfolio build. Below five properties it skews towards design; above twenty it skews heavily towards integration and search.

The audit tells us which before anything is scoped, which is why we do it first.
